Geopolitics: It is a neologism or new word, which emerges from three radicals that are GEO: Earth; Polis: City and Tees: People.

It is considered a science that studies the spatial causality of political events and their future effects, so inferring that is based on the analysis of space or territory and time (past, present and future) as it requires inquiring about the events occurred and their effects in order to predict or project strategic measures that will allow States to guarantee their development.

It has been influenced by the interests and ideologies that have led to different currents or schools of geopolitics.
The German School: Who has had well-known representatives such as:

Karl Ritter: Points out the importance of the relationship between geography and the history of man.
Friedrich Ratzel: Acuña that the territory as "Vital Space".
Rudolf Kjellen: The State as a way of life or a living organism.

English School: with its best exponent Sir Halford Mackinder who proposes the concepts of: Heartaland and Rimland; as well as to Eurasia as the center of the earth and whoever dominates it will dominate the world.

North American School:
Admiral Alfred Mahan: Maritime power is the basis of a State's military power.
Alexander Seversky: Air power is the basis of the power of the State, is the strategy of offense and defense areas.
Nicholas Spikman: The importance of Rimland to dominate the world.

I hope I am interested, I will soon be writing about the Latin American school.
