Spanish moss or the scientific name Tillandsia usneoides is an epiphytic flowering plant and very often grows on trees in subtropical and tropical climates. The below picture was taken in South Carolina. My first experience seeing Spanish moss was years ago in Florida.
Spanish moss is not from Spain and is not actually moss. It was the French that named the plant Spanish Moss.
All kinds of critters are drawn to and use Spanish Moss and some even live in it.
