Navidad en Argentina (Christmas in Argentina)

I got inspired to draw this illustration from the fact that Christmas night it's been reported to have temperatures of 29° C (84 F) in Buenos Aires. This happens because Argentina is located in the south hemisphere and when in the north enter winter, here we start summer. I imagined the deers would also feel the heat and I drew them swimming around Santa Claus.

In Argentina, we call Santa Claus "Papá Noel" this originates from Europe, there in some countries, Santa is known something that translated could be called Father Christmas, in France in particular, it's called Père Noël, and that's where the hispanic transformed to Papá Noel for Spain and other Hispanic countries as mine.

There's an aspect I really can't explain and it is the fact that in Christmas, when it hits 12 on the night of the 24, a storm of fireworks unleashes. It's completely strange to me understand that in a religious festivity someone would want to buy and fire up hundreds of this but maybe it's not something universally weird if you compare it to USA and their Independence Day festivity.

Something I DO want to highlight is what I personally consider the most beautiful about this holiday and that is the family reunion, apart from other countries, here ALL the family gets together; cousins, uncles, fathers, grandfathers... Houses meant for four or five people end up hosting ten or twenty, it just magically transforms.

And that's a bit the story of Christmas in Argentina, How is it in your country? I would love to read how you live this holiday time.

Espero que les haya gustado!

I hope you liked it.
