CULTIVATING BLUE TOMATOES IN COCOROTE

The blue tomato is a variety of hybrid tomato, which is composed of the CHERRY tomato and the US ARANDAN, This tomato variety was artificially created, with the intention of improving its nutritional value and antioxidant medicinal properties in the fight against cancer.

       Actually this variety of tomatoes is an intense Indigo blue, and its coloration is established in the place of the tomato where the sunlight rests, now if it is a place where all day there is incidence of solar rays, said fruit will be almost in its full 80% azulindigo.

    In general, this arificial variety of tomatoes is used in Europe and Canada to make tomato juice and bottling it. Ajora well for questions of curiosity and ornate, many cultivate it as a decorative element, garden.

      Out of curiosity I started a small blue tomato crop in the backyard of my mother's house located in the Cocorote State Yaracuy, Venezuela, and I managed to acclimatize it in the 5th generation of tomatoes that I have been practicing, this has generated a process of adaptability, and biological symbiosis with the environment, which has allowed the propagation of the species and seed among friends who have powerfully attracted attention.

          I have been able to raise this crop thanks to organic fertilizer and natural fumigation with repellents and autochthonous plants, such as aji or chirere pepper (PICANTE), ashes bleach. In the same way local agricultural practices that have allowed me to maintain the species that now with the help of friends spreads in the crops of the sector.
