La rana cristal su nombre se debe a que su piel es tan clara y transparente que atraves de ella se pueden observar los organos de esta rana.
Estas son ranas arbóreas y nocturnas ,estas colocan sus huevos en rocas muy cercanas a los arroyos y son los machos los que protegen sus huevos .
Este tipo de ranas están en peligro de extinción , por lo que ya han realizado cantidades de campañas para protegerlas.
