The Democratic People's Republic of Korea started a rapprochement with South Korea a week ago, which led to the restart on Tuesday of inter-Korean talks in the border village of Panmunjom. The meeting, South Korean Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon, led the Seoul delegation, while the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was led by Ri Son-gwon, chairman of the Committee on the Peaceful Reunification of Korea.
The meeting focused on the participation of the North in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics and led to the discussion of other aspects of bilateral interest.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea insisted on solving the problems faced by both sides of the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and negotiations, as well as making joint efforts to achieve peace, reconciliation and unity of the entire territory.
Seoul proposed to hold a meeting of the Red Cross to discuss the reunification of families separated by the War of the 1950s before the Lunar New Year festivities in February.
He also proposed to hold a military meeting to seek alternatives based on cooperation and mutual respect to stop tensions and promote peace on the Korean Peninsula.
