in spanish •  8 years ago

There are 3 classes of verbs in Spanish: AR, ER, and IR verbs. They are so named because the endings end with AR, ER, or IR. They are each conjugated differently .

Let's learn how to conjugate ER verbs.

The endings are as follows:

-o (yo form) = I
-es (tú form) = you
-e (él, ella, usted) = he/she/ you formal
-emos (nosotros(as) = we
-éis (vosotros(as)) = you all (Spain)
-en (ustedes, ellos, ellas)= you all, they (mas. and fem)

Now let's conjugate some ER verbs

  1. comer means 'to eat'. Here is how we conjugate it:
    yo como = I eat
    tú comes = you eat
    él/ella/usted come = he/she/you formal eat(s)
    nosotros(as) comemos = we eat
vosotros(as) coméis = you all (Spain) eat
    ustedes/ellos(as) comen = you all/ they eat

  2. beber means 'to drink'

yo bebo = I drink
tú bebes = you drink
él/ella/usted bebe = he/she/you formal eat(s)
nosotros(as) bebemos = we eat
vosotros(as) bebéis = you all (Spain) eat
ustedes/ellos(as) beben = you all/they eat

Let's write some sentences using these verbs.

Yo bebo café todos los días = I drink coffee every day
Tú comes bananas en la mañana = you eat bananas in the morning
Él bebe una cerveza con la cena = he drinks a beer with dinner
Nosotros comemos pizza los viernes = We eat pizza on Fridays
Vosotros bebéis agua cuando tenéis sed = You all (Spain) drink water when you are thirsty
