Scoperte le 12 galassie più antiche mai viste: sono nate quando l’universo aveva appena 800 milioni di anni. Costituiscono il più antico ammasso di galassie in formazione, distante13 miliardi di anni luce. L’annuncio è stato dato in Giappone dall’Osservatorio Astronomico Nazionale del Giappone, coordinato da Yuichi Harikane. Alla ricerca internazionale, pubblicata sull'Astrophysical Journal, ha partecipato anche l’astronomo della Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (Sissa) di Trieste, Darko Donevski.
