I delegated 77% of my Steem Power to active community members

in spdelegate •  8 years ago  (edited)

This is the first step toward reforming a guild to community-based independent movement. I delegated 800 SP to active curators in Korean community and 200 SP to Turkey community members. I had promised another guy who are committed to gardening contents but I forgot (Please comment here and I will delegate my power soon -> Found him @haphazard-hstead).

I believe distributing power to other engaged human curators means a lot. I hope other whales willingly share their power to other active members (not to sockpuppets 😜)

Thanks for remembering about your offer to delegate some power for the gardening and/or foraging communities. The foraging community here on Steemit is unlike any group on the Internet -- in Google+, Facebook, independent forums, or blogs. We have good participation from around the world. I think the Foraging Community on Steemit can be the go-to place on the Internet for people interested in this topic.

I'm upbeat about the gardening community, too. It's got even bigger potential -- it's almost exhausting already to curate, lol. If you want to delegate some of your account to either trail, I would appreciate it. I think you would assign your SP to either the @gardening-trail or the @foraging-trail, rather than directly to me. Thanks again!

Wonderful! I'm so glad these communities will be supported. I have worked with several of the Korean and Turkish curators and have developed respect for the quality of their curation work. They are very fortunate to have your help.

That is awesome to say the least, self sacrifice is the highest service one can do for another!
Thank you for this initiative, resteemed immediately!

I'm really disappointed by this, clayop.

I understand the urge to help underrepresented topics/authors, but bringing back the pre-experiment days is not the way to go about it.

We already know what happens when the whale influence escapes it's cage, those at the bottom starve.
It is little different than what we get in real life, the top sucks up sooo much that the bottom starves.

Folks come here to escape that, if they can't, they will go somewhere they can.
I don't know much about Your's, yet, but if they are more welcoming to the little guys you can bet that that is where the 1 million $100 investors will go.

Wow! Awesome. I wanna write Guide on this, to spread more awareness, is there any information on this?

😎Great to see New Features being Used!

cool!

nice post

I can't wait to see how delegating SP is going to work out in the long run. Sounds Promising.

Very cool @clayop
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

@baah deserves some DSP - he's one of the best curators on Steemit, and remains largely unrewarded for his superb work :)

Greetings, @clayop! Was quite interesting reading. Thanks!

wow good stuff. This is a good step to keep Steemit active with participation.

How generous you are

Very nice from you to delegate your power . Maybe you can chek and consider our new initiative @positive-trail , we think more positive energy in steem will be good for everyone sadly so far we dasunt have support from any big guild or whale .
Happy steeming !

You aré a good person Man congrats !!!!!

That's a very good initiative! Thanks!

Thank you! I hope other whales do the same.

Thank you! I hope other whales do the same

You do realize that if whale power is being used then steem power will become useless again for 99% of the steemians right? Whales by delegating their power to a few individuals will just increase the power of a few a the expense of the large majority.
This feature doesn't encourage people to buy steem power at all, it does the opposite actually.
The positive sentiment is going to turn into a depressive one real soon if whales start to delegate their power to a few smaller accounts.

Thanks, snowflake, I thought I was going down alone on this one.

We are not sure all whales won't use their power nor enforce them to stop to vote. I delegated my power to whom dont use bots and are commited to kr community. I think empowering engaged members is good for steem platform, rather than running voting bots.
And I think seven people for 1300 MV is not "few". They get 100~200 MV each.

I think empowering engaged members is good for steem platform

Steem power is not something people should get for free, people should either earn it or buy it.
The more people want to buy it the more valuable this platform becomes. By giving free power to people you reduce this incentive for them and for everyone else.
If you want to empower people the best way is to vote with less weight so that all the minnows/dolphins who actually buy steem power are encouraged to buy even more.

And I think seven people for 1300 MV is not "few"

7 people out of 15000 ( active last 30 days) is few, less than 0.05%.

I think you are stuck in this mindset that guilds and SP delegation is the solution to solve power concentration, it is not because both do not incentivize users to buy steem power. The real solution is the idea of an investor class.

Not out of 15000. I only gave it to Korean and Turkish community members so out of tens. It is not free power becauae I gave up using my power. Moreover, this delegation is not permenant. If I think one poorly performs, I am going to cancel it. Or after certain periods I will do too. They may miss higher steem power and want to buy more :)

I'm sorry but I think you fail to see the bigger picture. Delegating whale power has an effect on every steemians not just the Korean and Turkish community.

It is not free power becauae I gave up using my power.

Users whom you delegated power to have not spent time or money to get it so they received it for free.
People usually associate something free with something with no value.
Steem power should be seen as a valuable thing that you have to earn/buy to get more of.

If I think one poorly performs, I am going to cancel it

What do you mean poorly performs?

Users whom you delegated power to have not spent time or money to get it so they received it for free.

NO. They are already spending meaningful time on this platform. I didn't give SP to not that active users. My delegation is encouragements for them.

They are already spending meaningful time on this platform

Now you are borderline trolling and ignoring my questions. They didn't acquire the SP delegated to them by spending time on the platform.

I didn't give SP to not that active users.

These users below are not active at all, but that's not even the point.
@donuma
@vototo

How do you delegate power? I can't see anything about it in the UI.

Is there a tutorial available?

This is great sir

still have to see how it works
