I have a new hunter lurking around my front door, this one is a Wall Crab spider or Flattie. He has raised up a little bit on his legs because the camera disturbed him and I find it fascinating how fast they can move and how flat they can make themselves. This one is probably a male, you can tell by the larger, rounder ends of the pedipalps. Pedipalps are the little "legs" on the spider's head and they aren't legs, they serve as hands for the spider and in the male's case, he uses his pedipalps to transfer sperm during mating. And then he runs away as fast as his legs will carry him... If you live in Africa, South America or Australia, these are very common spiders in the house. They are harmless and belong to the family Selenopidae

On the right-hand side of the door, the Nursery Web spider has taken to lurking on the curtains. She's the one whose shed skins got featured a little while ago. Here she is, getting bigger and bigger.

Pardon me, but I like photographing spiders. I must try and buy a good macro lens so that you can see them in all their glory... They like to hang out around my front door because the outside light attracts many insects for them to hunt at night.

Beautiful photos!
I also like spiders, if they are not poisonous :-)))

There are actually very few spiders that can do any harm to people. We are just scared of them

:-)

Great photos, we call them huntsmen spiders.

These aren't true huntsmen, we have those as well. Although not quite as big as the ones you get in Aus. Huntsmen are amazing

We have several interesting spiders here as well as other arachnida. I may just decide to do some posts on our little denizens of NM.

Do that! What happened to the rock posts? I was enjoying them, especially the magnified views.

I got a little caught up in organizing and updating the store infrastructure, so I got away from posting the rocks. They had not generated many substantial up votes either, so I took a break from that. I do have one I'm getting ready to post called "An ugly rock?"

I'll look out for it

I like having these types of spiders around the house too, they are great at getting rid of annoying insects like mosquitos.

Exactly!

We never kill spiders around here, either... sometimes we have to stage rescue operations before the cats get to them in the house.

Most are harmless here in the US, although we do get occasional "Brown Recluse" spiders in the house, and they get escorted out and FAR away.

=^..^=

@nikv, I am could be not a fun of spiders but I would pet the Wall Crab spider since its harmless. Thanks for the information too.

You're welcome

All nature is perfect, but spiders cause me a type of phobia to be honest .. I am quite nervous I respect your power although I think that is not poisonous, I hope you have not killed it.

I never kill spiders

Great spider shadows! You should enter this week's Shadow Contest! 😃😀
