The Mexican Red Knee Tarantula

The Mexican Red Knee Tarantula also known as the Brachypelma Smithi is a beautiful big brown spider with red by the chionts of the legs.
They are venomous but not fatal. They mainley eat insects or bugs like cricket. They some time feed on small birds or baby mice. They only need 1 to 2 crickets per day to feed them.

Did you know that spiders does not have skeletons in their boddies.

They live in ground barrow, rocky areas or in the tropical deciduous forest. This is also the most common spider that are used in making movies because of their size and beautiful colour.

The female lives for 25 to 30 years and the male only lives up to 10 years.

They mate during the raining seasons July to October. Female make a silk mat on which she will lay between 200 and 400 eggs on and cover it with a sticky liquid containing the sperm. The female currie the eggs that are wrapped with silk in between her fangs until they hatch in 1 to 3 months. They stay with the female for 12 to 16 days before going on their own.
