Psalm 34 is a prayer dedicated to the devotion and the fear of God. God in his mercy and providence helps his devotees: "The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.", Psalm 34:10.
And not only that, God rehabilitates the broken in spirit: "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.", Psalm 34:18.
A broken-spirited person is a person who has lost all hope, a person who does not expect anything good from others. This is why in the Old Testament the fear of God and wisdom are important. The fear of God is the way to wisdom ("The fear of the Lord is the beginning of the wisdom", Proverbs 1:7), and wisdom restores the oppressed, the broken in spirit. The fear of the Lord is constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability. Wisdom is the knowledge of the correct means to live.
When the wisdom of God emerges among the oppressed, wisdom orders, corrects, teaches: "The wisdom that is from above, is first pure; and then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere." James 3:17.
The wise, the spiritual man, that is, the person who is full of the holy spirit, has the task of rehabilitating society and facing oppression: "Corresponds to the wise to lead and not be led", Metaphysics of Aristotle; "It belongs to the wise person to order", Aristotle.
The business of ignorance destroys the humble: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge", Hosea 4:6.
The phenomenon of oppression is fundamentally a problem of education, ignorance sustains lies and thus people become excessively bad, the path of righteousness is abandoned. God calls us to abandon the path of heresy (the teaching of error) and return to the path of mercy (kindness, gentleness, compassion).
