Trappist beer is one of the most famous products that Trappist monasteries produce and sell commercially.The beer should be prepared within the walls of Trappist Monastery, either by the monks themselves or under their direction.
The brewery should have a secondary importance within the monastery and should testify to the business practices that are appropriate to the monastic life
The brewery is not meant to make a profit. The income covers the monks' living expenses and the maintenance of the buildings.
