A spiritual law from the Bible: But you have planted wickedness, you have reaped evil. Hosea 10:13

All the prophets in the Bible spoke to us about the sensible life, the life that pleases God, because with it the men reap the good fruits of life, the pact made on Mount Horeb through Moses between God and Israel is a call not only to accomplish with the commandments but also to the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion) and the righteous living: "Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man" Ecclesiastes 12:13.
The prophet Hosea preached before the destruction of the Kingdom of Israel at the hands of the Assyrian empire and taught about the importance of fidelity to God, but not a fidelity based on masks and appearances but on a fidelity based on that love that God manifested to Israel. God is wise and because of his perfection, he cannot coexist with sin, that is, error.
In this way, the prophet called for the conversion of hearts in Israel:
"Sow righteousness for yourselves,
reap the fruit of unfailing love,
and break up your unplowed ground;
for it is time to seek the LORD,
until he comes
and showers his righteousness on you" Hosea 10:12.
But then he warned with great wisdom that the universe is also subject to ethical laws, such as the law of sowing and reaping, and that those who insist on foolishness and trust in apparent goods are doomed to ruin:
"But you have planted wickedness,
you have reaped evil,
you have eaten the fruit of deception.
Because you have depended on your own strength
and on your many warriors,
the roar of battle will rise against your people,
so that all your fortresses will be devastated" Hosea 10:13-14.
The law of sowing and reaping is a spiritual law of balance, learning, and retribution. When men ignore the effects of this law by living foolishly and rejecting the wisdom of God, that is when suffering begins, as it happened to the Israelites when they fell to Assyria, and to the inhabitants of Judah when they were conquered by Babylon. God continually calls men to reflection and repentance of sins.
