Spiritual teachings: "Grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life"

in spiritual •  4 years ago

Grace is every free action of God by which he transmits his perfections to us: "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect", Matthew 5:48; "Be merciful as your Father is merciful", Luke 6:36; "Be holy because I am holy" 1 Peter 1:16.
But for God to transmit his perfections to us, men must desire to live his gifts first (spiritual gifts are perfections): "Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.", 1 Corinthians 12:31
Paul delves into the doctrine of grace and explains the opposition between sin and grace, between death and eternal life: "so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.", Romans 5:21.

We cannot attain grace by law: "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.", Romans 3:20; "The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increase, grace increase all the more.", Romans 5:20; "What shall we say, then? It is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what is sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet". But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death.", Romans 7:7-11
Accept God's grace is the conversion to the Christian faith, justification itself, is the passage from a life full of sin to a life of righteousness ("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, Matthew 7:12), the righteous life is the path to eternal life, that is, the contemplative life or worship of wisdom, the very knowledge of God ("This is eternal life that they may know you the only true God", John 17:3).
