The Kingdom of God is a spiritual search as taught by the master Jesus, and an example of this was the rich young man who approached Jesus and asked him with great interest: "Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, ´Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?´" Matthew 19:16.
But this person who was rich could not follow Jesus for the love of money. Entering the Kingdom of God and receiving the blessing of eternal life is impossible if we have selfish interests. If we want to follow the path of Jesus, the life of our neighbor is as important as ours, the good of the other is also our good, and that is the deepest meaning of the spiritual communion.
In his epistle to his disciple Titus, Paul took up these themes and emphasized the fidelity to goodness and truth: "Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good" Titus 3:14.
The search for the path of righteousness was fundamental for Paul as it was for Jesus while he was physically on earth, righteousness is life in the grace of God: "Do to others what you would have them do to you" Matthew 7:12.
Righteousness is unfailingly the path to eternal life, that is, the contemplative life: "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God" John 17:3.
And we know this righteousness by justification, by the grace of God, which is manifested in all believers, Paul reminded us in his epistle to Titus:
"For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ´No´ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age" Titus 2:11-12.
Righteousness, the definition of good, is the invitation that Jesus makes us to bless us, because no one can be happy alone, happiness as such is a gift and a grace, it is up to us to accept it.
