I used to think that being “spiritual” would mean life would become easy and, hopefully, I wouldn’t have any more problems!
I thought that now I was mastering my challenges, it was time for the ideal, problem-free, fairytale life to begin!!
Not a chance! Well, not in the way I expected. Thinking differently, practicing my new positive, trusting perspective didn’t exactly completely stop me from having further life challenges! Instead, the gift that I had acquired was, amazingly, that my responses to new challenges showing up in my life was completely different. My perspective totally shifted and I was starting to experience old “problems” now as 'interesting challenges' that were giving me an opportunity to find out more about myself, perhaps a reason to accept certain things or forgive myself for things, done in the past, that I was still holding on to.
Some of the challenges have been intense, but they have taught me to trust that the outcome would be the best for my soul. Through this new way of responding I could choose to be happy, trusting and fascinated in every situation. the mantra 'Choose The View that Benefits You' appeared in my mind regularly. I also remember the teaching of Anthony Robbins saying we can alwayschoose to simply apply a new meaning to any situation, a meaning that makes us feel good or even a meaning that is totally incredible. The important thing is to be the creator of our feelings and emotions so that we can thrive and attract a reality that feels good and brings us joy.
Sometimes my new response was immediate, sometimes it might have taken a moment or two; at other times, I still had more emotions to experience and I witnessed situations unfold from more of an observers viewpoint during the journey they took me on. I chose not to make these more shadowy or negative emotions 'wrong' but to be interested in discovering more about the triggers and the source of them.
Again, I realize that even just experiencing my emotions is one of the main reasons I am incarnate here, learning more about everything that is not who I am as a soul, and that it is good to feel , noticing the results and effects in my body of these more difficult emotions, realign myself into a higher frequency thought and feeling and then let go.
The most powerful lesson I learned was that I was the one in charge of my response. I didn’t have to react to everything around me but could choose instead to actively look for the good, the gift, the joy in every situation. I learned that trusting and surrendering gives me the chance to let my soul lead, instead of our human egotistical, fearful, and controlling ego self that thinks it knows what’s best. Experiencing this way of 'being' brings me extraordinary inner peace and natural happiness.
As my friends and I describe it, you really can “Choose the view that benefits You!” It really is that simple and so effective.
“Surrendering” means that I am learning not to limit myself, and so becoming open to the possibilities of the Universe and to the plan that I, the soul, created before I incarnated as Hazel. Now I believe totally that everything that happens to me is part of the plan I made for myself this lifetime. Therefore the challenges are the best parts, the very nudges—and sometimes even kicks—that I need to help me grow, experience, expand, take steps outside of my comfort zone, and become the best I, as Hazel this time here on Earth, can possibly be. A work in progress, of course, but happy progress!!
My wish for you is that you are equally inspired by the mantra "Choose the View that Benefits You" and practice creating peace and happiness in your life, through choosing the way you think and feel. It really works!
