One Yeti's Perspective #286: Saved Today? What About Tomorrow?

in spirituality •  6 years ago

So this week has been great responding to comments and rolling with spiritual topics. Today I want to touch on the idea of 'once saved, always saved'.

So the first thing that jumps out to me is John 3:16 "shall not perish but have eternal life". This has led many to believe that once they believe in Jesus they will have eternal life. I think it is a little more than that.

If you can tell that a man is born again by the fruit that he bears, you will see the fruit of the spirit flowing through. Since you cannot get figs from thistles, it is clear that good fruit comes from good plants.

I would think that anyone that calls on Jesus and believes in Him and his teaching would bear this fruit. Therefore there would be no question about the final destination. On the other hand if someone doesn't actually believe, the fruit won't be there.

I truly believe that Jesus set us up with a multi tier structure. Almost like standing up dominoes. If the first one falls..then the second..and so on. Not just "yeah I believe Jesus, I am saved" but more like " I love Jesus, let me show you"....then eternity will take care of itself.

Let us not focus only on our own souls, but the collective, and we do that through our actions now.

Be well. Be encourage. Be radical.

I'm just thankful that we're not getting all the government we're paying for.

I don't agree that a good man (or woman) will not bear bad fruit @freedompoint. I actually think it is more mixed than that.

Every human being bares both good and bad fruit. Some people bare more good fruit than bad, but others bare more bad fruit than good.

There is good in all of us though, even in the 'evil' people among us. If you need evidence, remember that everyone was once a baby... and I don't think there is an adult alive who is more innocent, harmless and deserving than a newborn.
