Today my good friend @sterlinluxan posed a question to his Facebook page, questioning why people get so wrapped up in metaphysics.
This was his question:
"Interesting thing. A lot of people are devoutly religious...fanatical even. I rarely even think about the possibility religion or God, though. It has no bearing on my life. I push forward with personal hope and optimism, and never feel the need to “pray” to anything or “worship” anything. This makes me wonder how people can be so caught up in metaphysics, or caught up in terms of pushing against religion. I just think there are way more pressing concerns than needing to rile up my imagination all the time. It just seems like a gigantic waste of energy and time."
Although I do not subscribe to any specific organized religion, I like to think that I subscribe to all of them, taking the bits and pieces that I like from each and leaving the rest.
This was the response I left in the comments:
I have fun philosophizing about what could be, what could possibly lie beyond the five senses and I do think it has positive real-life consequences as well. When you explain the unexplainable things in life with magic an mysticism, life becomes so much more fun, and sometimes it can give you the confidence that you need to go through with certain decisions...it can make the world seem like a puzzle that is fun to explore
In the first book that me and Derrick wrote we called this perspective "explorative agnosticism"
The difference between this path, and one of extreme religiosity is the idea that we separate mystic beliefs from the five sense world, and put them in a category of unproven theories. When approached from this angle, beliefs become less dogmatic, and it is much easier to talk with other people who have different ideas without getting into arguments. My life has taken a very positive direction since I've adopted this mindset, most of this is all internal mentally, because i feel better about the world and make better decisions, but i feel this is somewhat of a different mindset than someone who is purely religious in the dogmatic sense.
For those of you who are interested in checking out the "explorative agnosticism" chapter in my book, you can read the FREE PDF, the information relating to this is in chapter 2. Find out more about Reflections on Anarchy and Spirituality HERE.

It's funny for me to read a lot of the discussions around this topic, oftentimes a lot of atheists are angry and bitter because someone tried to indoctrinate them into a religion. I was basically raised as an atheist, we went to Unitarian church on holidays, yet over my life I have had many personal experiences with the divine that I can't really deny its existence and so then I must examine all sorts of previously held beliefs, such as scientific beliefs, and integrate the gnostic knowledge I have gained into it. It sure gives you something to think about.

Spirituality is always a subject I find extremely interesting because I like knowing what makes people tick.
I was raised Christian but left religion behind in my teens because I didn't want to only believe in a set way and abide by set rules; however I still find it interesting that so many people flock to that and need it. My dad always says that is where morality is taught, I disagree I think morality can be taught anywhere. Regardless some people choose the path of heavy religious ritual and some chose to take bits and pieces from everything.

One thing is certain, wether we believe it or not,the physical is ruled by the spiritual.Visible is ruled by invisible. The matter,I mean this universe was said to come to existence through the big bang theory. But I don't know if anyone ever think of the origin of the big bang. What the maker did was that He allow every one to choose the part they want. However, because human soul is eternal it will never die regardless of human belief,it will be judge based on it believed while on earth.God Himself did not want any soul to be destroyed so He presented Himself to man to believe.
