SPIRITUAL FOOD 4 THOUGHT - AMERICAN CHRISTIANS or CHRISTIAN AMERICANS?

in spirituality •  6 years ago

Which comes first?

For those in other countries, just substitute a different national identity instead of "American."

Of course we confess with our mouths that our eternal citizenship is the primary one, but how often does our lifestyle testify against us?

I completely agree with you. It is the question of which relation is primary to us: the one born out of natural necessity, or the one one we freely chose by baptism - relation with God. We have a similair problem in Orthodoxy with ethnopyletism, where local Churches are developed on the national principle. Apostle Paul openly said: "There is neither Jew nor Gentile" (Gal 3, 28), which doesn't cut off our national identity, it just places it under our primary relation - relation with Christ.

Well put!

I am Ukrainian / Russian Christian.
Perhaps I do not always understand what sin is.
That's why every day I ask Lord to forgive my sins...

Understanding that we need forgiveness is the important part. We can continue to learn and grow from there. Greetings @ir3k!

Great post, thanks for sharing....following you.

Thank you for sharing!

That's good stuff, man. Thanks for the encouragement. It's not always easy, and the wide road often seems more attractive because it's so easy to walk on... anyone can do it! However, we know where that road goes. It's important to have people around us who can encourage us to stay on the narrow road. Thanks for being one of those people!
