How to create excitement out of thin air

in spirituality •  5 years ago

I don’t really get bored. I mean I do for a moment or two but it’s never unbearable and I can always transmute boredom into something more positive.

I get sad sometimes but I can always find a way to enjoy the sadness. And I can let the sadness pass through me quickly. Almost always anyway.

Some people think you can’t control your emotions. You can’t. But you can. See you can’t control them but you can create new emotions which can override the emotions you want to get rid of.

We don’t have direct control over emotions but we have control over our focus. Focus will influence our thoughts. Thoughts influence emotions. So indirectly, we are in control of all that goes on in our mind and hearts, like a conductor.

If our focus sucks, our mood will suck.

So when I’m feeling bored I focus on anything that might be fun or enjoyable for me. Sometimes it’s really hard. In those moments I try to act like a child and forget social norms. There is always SOMETHING!

Sometimes I’ll play with my fingers and just think about how weird fingers are. Sometimes I’ll make a noise and repeat it over and over again. Sometimes I’ll make a song in my head about mustard or Romania. Sometimes I’ll mix two foods that shouldn’t go together, just to laugh at the result.

When I’m sad I try to change my focus to the positive aspect. We often get addicted to negative focus because we spend so much time observing and commenting on what is. When we focus so much on what is we forget about what could be just around the corner. Many times it is around the corner but only if we bother to look.

Playfulness can also help with sadness.

So next time you feel depressed or unmotivated, just play with your focus and play with your face until you focus loosens up and you can change it a bit.

It’s all up to you. Excitement is always there, waiting for you to find it.

I think being bored is something that most creative people hardly experience. It's also more of a catchphrase / a thing that kids like to say when they want to do something else than what they're doing ( and adults prevent them from doing so ). I'm also hardly ever bored as I can enjoy the most mundane thing ( what others might call 'boring' ).

To get back to kids' mentality, my niece and nephew love playing with cardboard boxes. I saved a bunch of those for them and yesterday they spent half of the day transforming, sitting in them, using their imagination and even fighting over boxes haha ( possible even some real 'boxing' as they cried several times ). We should all be more like kids, indeed and treat life as the fun and exciting game that it is.

I’m glad to be back, it’s so much nicer than YouTube. Somehow I have time for more work more writing and more social life and steemit now :-)

I met a cool mom recently who plays with her kid like she’s another kid but somehow manages to be an adult too. I’ll tell you more later.

I know you don’t get bored. :-)

Hope I meet your family before their all old hahaha come on bitcoin!

I have way too much going on inside my head to ever be bored 😆

Rage on the other hand I’m not sure how to get rid of so currently it’s just used to power a lot of things I do 🙃

Rage against rage! Sometimes I’m curious about what goes on in there...maybe I should be terrified

That's so crazy it just might work? XD

The AER related stuff is mostly fine (even the dark stuff is just stuff that happens/has happened in meatspace that we would rather didn't). Some of the other stuff may be terrifying but I guess it depends on what one considers terrifying? XD

Really interesting and insightful. I am looking up ways to change and focus my sadness.

Loosen up. Life is a gift and stuff 😃

I don’t really get bored.

Me neither. My brain is too out of control for that to happen.

I get sad sometimes but I can always find a way to enjoy the sadness.

I embrace all my emotions and through the years I've learned that it's better for me to just let go and not try to change myself to feel something else. That includes sadness. Of course there are situations when I have to act something I'm not because of other people around me, but then also I don't try to change how I feel, I just hide it for a while so other people don't know how I feel. It's the basic skill to know in customer service.

But if I'm alone and sad, I usually dig the saddest songs I know and listen them over and over and over again and they make me feel even more sad. So I listen to them, until I don't want to listen them anymore because I no more feel sad.
