What is it that makes sad people so sad?
Well bad things happen, but that doesn't stop some people from living fulfilled lives. I think the real reason people lose vest for life is allowing the bad things to chip away at their desire to play.
We are all born knowing how to play. Over a decade in the classroom teaches us to play only when it's acceptable ( which is not most of the time). Then in university people try to enjoy the last of their play time before the inevitable "real world", where one has to be serious most of the time.
Seriousness is heavy. It doesn't allow for play. You see people on the way home from work, of course they don't want to play. Work is hard. Sometimes it's not even the workload that is the most difficult, it's the face we have to put on. Its not always ok to laugh and say "sorry I wasn't paying attention".
The difference between someone over 65 who is cheery and one who is a grump then becomes clear. One who forgets how to play is no fun to be around, they age faster, and it's no fun to be them either. The cheeriest old people I know all know how to play, and I know a lot of old people.
The people who heal from deadly sicknesses...I haven't checked researched, but I'd bet a majority of them are either really stubborn or know how to play.
If you think knowing how to play doesn't work in serious situations, I can tell you from personal experience, it can help you get a job, help you get over loss or stay calm in a natural disasters. It doesn't mean running away from what is happening.
So remember the kid inside you. Let it come back to life, and watch your life become more fun!
With that I will leave you with Detective Butt
