Here’s the untold story: the last straw is not the only straw. A pile of straws had actually come hard on the proverbial camel before its back gave in to the weight.
All the previous straws appear irrelevant because the paparazzi didn’t think they were worth the attention.
You know, people like to fantasize about the idea of overnight success. They like to reduce success stories to an interplay of luck and chance. But it’s not so. If there was a thing like overnight success, then it is attempts at success made again and again….nights over nights. Nights that lasted a couple of years and sometimes decades. People who kept at the grind even when there were no clear imperatives on why they should keep going. People who stayed committed to their gig with the constant reminder that their gig just might not work.
The truth is, if you are going to bring down the wall between you and your dreams, better be ready to stay right there and to keep pounding at it. And every hit is a small part of the required price and it is worth staying the process.
