To take part in the contest held by @behappy contest I reviewed a very good sports film My Greatest Sports Movie of all Time, in my opinion, is 3 Srikandi. I have discussed this film in a session closer to archery, you can read it here. This film tells the story of Indonesian archery athletes who have won silver at the Olympics, namely; Nurfitriyana Saiman, Lilies Handayani and Kusuma Wardhani under the guidance of senior archery athlete Donald Pandiangan.
The film aired in Bioskop in mid-2016 to coincide with the moment of the 2016 Summer Olympics. But the film was finished produced by MVP Pictures at the end of 2015.
The film was directed by Iman Brotoseno, and the stars in the film were Reza Rahardian as Donald, Bunga Citra Lestari as Nurfitriyana Saiman, Chelsea Islan as Lilies Handayani, Tara Basro as Kusuma Wardhani and Detri Warmanto as Adang Ajiji.
In my opinion, this film is very extraordinary in Indonesian archery sports films that occur. How could this film not combine 3 art films, namely Politics, Love, Dreams, and Sports.
In 1988 at the Seoul Olympics, the Indonesian contingent won a silver medal through archery in the women's team archery category. This is the first medal for Indonesia since it began participating in the world's most prestigious sports. This film raises the story of the struggle of the Indonesian women's archery team in winning the medal.
Even though at that time the archery branch was at a critical point, where a coach was needed who could prepare a female archery team in a short time. The only one who can be relied on as a coach is Donald Pandiangan, known as "Robin Hood Indonesia".
But Donald himself has long since disappeared. He was still beaten when in 1980 when he was preparing for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, he was canceled for political reasons. Now he lives far from archery, even sports. In addition to the coaches, the archery team must also be chosen by the 3 best female athletes. They are Nurfitriyana, Lilies, and Kusuma.
Meanwhile, the time to get to the Olympics is getting closer, but the 3 Srikandi also have their own complex problems. Under threat of not leaving at all, the manager of the archery union, Pak Udi, must persuade and convince Donald to prepare a female archery team.
Donald's strong, militant and highly disciplined person must be able to form Yana, Lilies, and Suma to reach the peak of their achievements. The training period becomes a moment of self-motivation for all of them. Friction and enmity with each other, the rigors of the field to practice and the time to thin out, forge them. Day and night squeezing physically, emotionally and mentally, the princess archery team prepared to go to Seoul. By strengthening their enthusiasm, they also fought in the field.
Overall the film is quite entertaining and can provide an overview of the struggle of the Indonesian women's archery team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
