Maybe somebody who knows more about basketball can put this into better context; but, trading four first round draft picks and several players who seemed to be pretty damn solid, mostly for one star player, doesn't seem like a pragmatic move.
I'm considerably better educated in regard to football; and, even blockbuster trades for franchise quarterbacks don't come with that kind of draft capital. Deshaun Watson was dealt for three first round picks, and some change. Russell Wilson was dealt for two first round picks, and two second round picks.
I mean, yeah, in order to get a Mahomes or (God forbid) an Allen without those guys demanding a trade, I could imagine a team dumping seven first round picks and some change in there; but, to my understanding, there's no position in basketball that is as important as the position of quarterback in football.
