As a Green Bay Packers fan I have been looking at countless mock drafts to see who the 'experts' think the team will pick. While I was compiling the info it occurred to me that recording the top 5 prospects at each position could be useful to other people interested in the draft. I've used a points/draft position system to work out the average top 5 according to the many mock drafts I used (as many as I could find). Here goes:

QB

  1. Sam Darnold (Round 1, Pick 1)
  2. Josh Rosen (Round 1)
  3. Baker Mayfield (Round 1)
  4. Josh Allen (Round 1)
  5. Lamar Jackson (Round 1/2)

Not an easy call this. It is generally accepted that the Browns will pick Darnold 1st overall but after that its anyone's guess. Josh Allen could be the big mover.

RB

  1. Saquon Barkley (Round 1)
  2. Derrius Guice (Round 1)
  3. Ron Jones II (Round 1/2)
  4. Nick Chubb (Round 2)
  5. Sony Michel (Round 2)

Barkley looks incredible and is arguably the biggest talent in the draft.

WR

  1. Calvin Ridley (Round 1)
  2. Christian Kirk (Round 1/2)
  3. Courtland Sutton (Round 2)
  4. DJ Moore (Round 2)
  5. James Washington (Round 2)

Again, nearly every mock has a different set of results so this is a true average.

TE

  1. Dallas Goedert (Round 1/2)
  2. Hayden Hurst (Round 1/2)
  3. Mike Gesicki (Round 2)
  4. Mark Andrews (Round 2/3)
  5. Troy Fumagalli (Round 3/4)

All these guys look impressive on film. The Pack are linked to Fumagalli because of the Wisconsin connection.

OT

  1. Mike McGlinchey (Round 1)
  2. Connor Williams (Round 1)
  3. Orlando Brown (Round 1/2)
  4. Kolton Miller (Round 1/2)
  5. Chukwuma Okorafor (Round 2)

Brown is the wild card here. Certain issues making teams nervous. Could rise.

OG/C

  1. Quenton Nelson (Round 1)
  2. Isiah Wynn (Round 1)
  3. James Daniels (Round 1)
  4. Will Hernandez (Round 1/2)
  5. Billy Price (Round 1/2)

Nelson looks NFL ready and a top talent.

DL

  1. Vita Vea (Round 1)
  2. Da'Ron Payne (Round 1)
  3. Maurice Hurst (Round 1/2)
  4. Taven Bryan (Round 2)
  5. Harrison Phillips (Round 2/3)

Vea seems to have made a jump in the rankings and looks impressive. Hurst is the wild card because of the injury that kept him from participation at the combine.

Edge

  1. Bradley Chubb (Round 1)
  2. Marcus Davenport (Round 1)
  3. Harold Landry (Round 1/2)
  4. Arden Key (Round 2)
  5. Sam Hubbard (Round 2)

Chubb is the accepted leader in this class. Key could move depending on teams attitude to his past issues.

OLB

  1. Trumaine Edmunds (Round 1)
  2. Roquan Smith (Round 1)
  3. Harold Landry (Round 1/2)
  4. Lorenzo Carter (Round 2)
  5. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (Round 2/3)

Doubling up here because some of these guys can be Edge, OLB and ILB. Edmunds figures to go high.

ILB

  1. Trumaine Edmunds (Round 1)
  2. Roquan Smith (Round 1)
  3. Rashad Evans (Round 1)
  4. Leighton Vander Esch (Round 2)
  5. Malik Jefferson (Round 2)

Multi positional talent here.

CB

  1. Denzel Ward (Round 1)
  2. Josh Jackson (Round 1)
  3. Jaire Alexander (Round 1/2)
  4. Mike Hughes (Round 1/2)
  5. Isiah Oliver (Round 1/2)

Alexander has made a move up the chart recently.

S

  1. Minka Fitzpatrick (Round 1)
  2. Derwin James (Round 1)
  3. Justin Reid (Round 1/2)
  4. Ronnie Harrison (Round 2)
  5. Jessie Bates III (Round 2/3)

Fitzpatrick and James look to be clear leaders in this class.

I have left out FB's because the perception and future position for certain players is unclear at this position.

Lastly I will add the perceved top 5 talented and 'NFL ready' players in this years draft. Not scientific!!! ;)

  1. Saquon Barkley RB
  2. Quenton Nelson OG
  3. Minka Fitzpatrick S/CB/LB
  4. Trumaine Edmunds LB
  5. Bradley Chubb Edge

Thats it. I hope you all like it and find it useful. Please feel free to comment and give feedback. Just remember, these are not necessarily my choices but are the average of all the mocks I could find. Happy drafting! :) Gaz.

I really would like for my Cowboys to get one of the top 2 LB (Edmunds or Roquan), but probably both are out of our range without trading up. Same with Derwin James. The only ones with a good chance of making it to #19 that I'd like for them to get is Vita Vea or Ronnie Harrison. I also will be making a top 5 list. Mine will be the top 5 of each position that I'd like to see the Cowboys draft. Doesn't matter the round, just as long as they get drafted. That list will be coming out soon.

Sounds good. I will look forward to that.
