F1: stupid teams and promoters

Alonso retires without a seat in a fast car as long as Ferrari and Mercedes have a second driver. Is that just irritating to me? A much bigger marketing value would be a HAM-Alo battle than a vb title..What do you think? Formula 1 can not afford this.
