Stadium is located in Azadi Sport Complex is a headquarters for Esteghlal FC, Pesepolis FC, and of course the Iranian national team.
Built in 1970 as the host of the 1974 Asian Games and 1976 AFC Asian Cup, the stadium has a different design when compared to the stadium in general, which is able to 'harden the sound' inside the stadium.
That is, when the stadium is full then the sound of the audience cheers will be so noisy than it should and of course this disturbs the concentration of teams who are playing in the best conditions though. Because of this, Azadi Stadium is touted as the most intimidating stadium in Asia.
In addition, since 2004 a giant television screen (20 meters x 7.5 meters) has been added to replace the previous scoreboard and become one of the largest in the world.
