Donovan Mitchell came in to his NBA rookie a bit of an unknown quantity taken outside of the top 10 of the first round by the Utah Jazz and seen as a good rotation bench player...oh how that has all changed! Mitchell in leading the Jazz to a 6 game first round playoff win over Russ Westbrook and the Thunder has become the first player since the great Kareem Abdul Jabbar to score 20 points or more in his first playoff game and in the process may have broken up Oklahoma's 'Super Team'.

Mitchell in his first playoff series put up Michael Jordan type numbers: 28.6 Points per game on 46.2% FG is superstar numbers and the fact he is a rookie make this all the more special, he chipped in with 7.2 Rebounds per game for good measure as well. What struck me watching Game 6 was that he had ice in his veins, in what ended up a shootout with reigning MVP Westrbook the rookie Mitchell was able to hit big shot after big shot in the biggest game of his short career on his way to 38 points.
The Jazz now move on to a Round 2 match off with James Harden, CP3 and the Houston Rockets where this young rising Star will go up against two of the Leagues great players. I dont think this young Jazz team will have enough fire power to get over the Rockets particularly with Ricky Rubio looking doubtful with a hamstring injury but what i do know is that the NBA has seen the birth of one of its true superstars set to dominate the league for the next decade.
He's a definite ROTY. He is very talented and brave and he makes UTAH JAZZ good. I am a Utah fan and I am able to say "Gordon who?" thanks to him. I see a lot of similarities between him and Kobe. I hope he'll be a superstar quickly.
About Houston, they're really good but we can give them some hard time. We'll see what we can do! #TakeNote
