UEFA Competitions Finals

At last we know who the finalists for both UEFA competitions are. Real Madrid- Liverpool for UEFA Champions League and Atletico de Madrid-Olympique Marseille for the Europa League. I am going to make a summary of both competitions semi finals as I saw them.

Real Madrid- Bayern Munich, the last game was better played by Bayern who were not awarded two penalty shots that the referee decided were not penalties, but the thing that really got me was the goals gifted to Real Madrid by the Bayern goal keeper, it just makes me wonder that a goal keeper who is supposed to be one of the most talented in Germany can make such big mistakes. Still Bayern should have won this game but couldn't score the winner so they are responsible for their loss.

Roma- Liverpool great game by Roma who were also not awarded two penalties by the referee, unfortunately Liverpool was also not awarded one when Sane was fouled so I think it evens out, anyway I think Liverpool were slightly better than Roma overall so deserved to qualify, but still Roma made this semifinal about the best one I have seen in years.

In the Europa League we had two completely different games. Atletico de Madrid - Arsenal and Salzburg - Olympique Marseille.

Atletico-Arsenal was a boring game, Arsenal lost the finals when they gifted Atletico a draw in London, both teams disappointed me, Atletico actually played to defend their away home lead and then when they scored with a counter attack played to defend that lead, Arsenal, well Arsenal played like Arsenal, a Barcelona wannabe without the talent, I think I didn't see them take a single shot at Oblak today, you can't win like that.

Salzburg-Olympique Marseille, a great game, Salzburg are good, because Marseille is a great team and they really had them down, here we have the referee not awarding Marseille a penalty when the ball hit a Salzburg defender's hand, but to me he called it right I think it wasn't a penalty, it wasn't going to the goal and the defender was trying to block the shot to the goal so it was accidental, the Marcelo hand was way more blatant and wasn't considered a penalty (FIFA should rule all hand balls in the area as penalties or these discussions will never end) and after this the referee did gift the finals to Marseille when he gave them a corner from which their qualifying goal came, a corner which never existed.

So now we have Real Madrid as favorites for the Champions League, but some how I bet on Liverpool winning it, and Atletico is favorite for Europa League, but again I am betting on Marseille.

These two competitions showed me three teams that play football the way I think it should be played, go all out to win and screw the defense, Liverpool, Roma and Salzburg. Only one of the three made it to the finals but when you watch a game played by one of these teams at least you know there will be goals and these guys will always be looking for a way to win with offensive football.
