The Belgian NGO Play for Peace organized this Sunday, coinciding with the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace, an event to raise awareness in society about the importance of sport for people. Attendees could enter without paying and once inside perform about 30 sports activities supervised by professionals.

Avi Tawil, executive director of the European center of the Jewish community attended the event with his children. "From the Jewish community we try to encourage the importance of sport because society these days has a high risk of fragmenting and we need to keep people together," explains the director.

Tawill spent some time doing weights with Hamza Abettoy. Of Maghrebi origin, Aberroy is a resident of the Molenbeek district and thanks the association for holding this event, which gives him the opportunity, he says, to meet people from other religious communities and, through sport, forge new foundations of cohesion for maintain relationships.603x339_cmsv2_84b36ef8-f8c0-51d6-9d53-e3d6b2897cb1-3111340.jpg603x339_cmsv2_84b36ef8-f8c0-51d6-9d53-e3d6b2897cb1-3111340.jpg
