You've got a point. No matter what anyone else thinks, Wenger is the last person that will recognise that he's 'lost it.'
All the greats in sport are self deluded. That's what often makes them great.
I'm sure if you asked Lennox Lewis would he beat Anthony Joshua if they fought tomorrow. He'd say no on camera but deep down part of him will believe that he could still knock him out.
