THE FIRST CLUB OF FOOT OF HISTORY CELEBRATES 160 YEARS

in sport •  7 years ago

Back where everything started.

On October 24, 1857, Sheffield FC was born. The first non-university club founded by Nathaniel Creswick and William Perst, considered the inventors of football, Sheffield has always evolved at the amateur level. The first derby in history also opposed Sheffield FC to the local rival, Hallam FC, a day of Boxing Day December 26, 1860. To celebrate this anniversary, a match is organized on Tuesday night at the "Home of Football" , the club's eternal stadium, opposing the team of a former club member who became Sheffield United's manager, Dave McCarthy, to sponsors. A jersey has even been marketed for the occasion, with the inscription "160 years" embroidered under the crest.
