Last night Liverpool FC played Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League. The game ended with a 4 – 0 trashing in favour of Liverpool. With 3 out of 4 strikers scoring. First, Firmino, then Mohamed Salah (twice) with one penalty, and the last goal by Sadio Mane. However, there were 2 outstanding players, Xherdan Shaqri and Andrew Robertson. For me the player of the match would be Shaqri, who provided some excellent passes.
The game also saw the first start of Brazilian star Firbino . One of Liverpool’s new singings. He too had a wonderful game. I hope his game improves, from strength to strength in the Liverpool jersey. Overall the game was an easy one for Liverpool. I hope Liverpool don’t look at this game to see their level.
The night also had some records for the statisticians. Mohamed Salah seem to be back in form scoring his 49th and 50th goal in the Liverpool jersey. The coach was overjoyed and said, “said Mohamed Salah had silenced debate over his form by reaching the 50-goal mark for Liverpool faster than any player in the club’s illustrious history”. The Egyptian has finished this milestone in just 65 matches. This record was held by Albert Stubbins way back in the 1946-48. Stubbins was the quickest Liverpool player to 50 goals in 77 matches.
With Mohamed Salah not on his best form this season, all Liverpool supporters hope the “ Moe” finds his form soon. If he does Liverpool should give Man city a run for the premier League championship.
With all things looking bright for Liverpool this season they will need to take each game as it comes. This weekend the focus should be the game against Cardiff city. If they can show the same intensity the game is there’s to win.
