1. Sania Mirza

She's one of the most famous sportspersons in India. Currently she's 29 years old but at the age of 15 she became India's tennis sensation. Today, she's on the first place in the women's doubles tennis ranking. Mirza is also one of the best paid sportspersons in India.

2. "PV"  Sindhu

PV Sindhu was born in 1995 in Hyderabad. She's one of the best badminton stars in the world. She has won numerous medals at international badminton championships, such as the Word Championships in 2013 and 2014 and the Incheon Asian games.

3, "MC" Mary Kom

There are many boxing stars born in India, but no one is more known than Mary Kom. She was born in 1983 in a small village located in the state of Manipur. She has won numerous medals at international boxing championships, including the Asian Games held at Incheon. She was the only woman boxer from India to qualify for the Summer Olympics held in London, in 2012.

4. Nehwal Saina

After the retreat of Prakash Padukone, India experienced a major slump until Saina took the responsibility of restoring its rightful place on the top of the world. Born in 1990, she's currently ranked No.1 in the 2015 Badminton World Federation Women's Singles rankings. She was the first Indian person to win the World Junior Badminton Championship in 2009.

5. Saba Anjum Karim

Hockey has always been India's favorite sport for many decades now. At the forefront of the Indian women's hockey team is Saba Anjum Karim. She was born in the state of Chhattisgarh and she's 30 right now. Karim led her team into many international competitions and won numerous gold medals for India, such as the 2002 Commonwealth Games held in Manchester and the 2006 Asian Games held in Doha.

6. Anjali Bhagwat

At the end of our list we can find Anjali Bhagwat. Born in 1969, she's another woman that put Indian sportswomen in the global spotlight. Her list of international wins is a very long one, bust the most known among there are the 2002 World Cup silver medal and the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games of 2002.
