Evolving Past Tribalism, The Olympics, & Football

In more primitive times, when humans lived in small groups or tribes, it was in the best interest of our survival that we fear outsiders and distrust people who did not look, speak, or act like the members of our tribe. This fear of outsiders is a deeply ingrained part of human nature. Today, we call xenophobia "the irrational fear and distrust of that which is perceived to be foreign or strange." At some point it was rational, but only because we did not yet know how to live in harmony as we do today. This tribalism today is manifest as racism, bigotry, and nationalism.

This is why people fight over bits of cloth. Symbols that evoke emotions. Emotions rooted in the psychological basis for tribalism. However, as much as the mainstream media wants to promote division and sensationalism, the overall trend is clear: we are becoming less tribalist over time!

When we are able to see our fellow human beings as just that rather than as members of a different tribe, we put our shared humanity first and see what unites us instead of what divides us. Historically, the Olympics have been an orgy of tribalism. Governments are happy to sponsor and promote the games because they reinforce the tribalism that is the foundation of their power. When we see ourselves as members of the global human family rather than as citizens of a particular nation, the power of governments to use our emotions to exploit us is severely diminished.

This is why there is such outrage about Colin Kaepernick and other football players kneeling for the national anthem. This is why Trump demands that they stand. But more importantly, this is why ratings are down for football. There may be an accelerated slump in the ratings from the NFL not being collectivist enough, but the longer-term decline is because the temptations of tribalism are not as strong in a more enlightened world. Cities love subsidizing sports with stadiums and sweetheart deals because they reinforce tribalism. The military loves advertising at sports games with military/nationalist ceremonies because they can easily pervert the beautiful voluntary collectivism of sports into a violent pro-government collectivism. They are standing against human progress by robbing through taxation in order to manipulate people's emotions and they are losing because they are fighting a rising tide of human unity.

I love sports. I was a brutally enthusiastic rugby player. I even played for the Marine Corps team one year. I guess that makes me a former professional athlete. (Also a former professional mercenary for politicians.) I still work out and run with my dog and engage in friendly competition whenever I have an opportunity. I love all my fans around the country who have invited me to participate in everything from kickball to kubb. It's beautiful to see that we are starting to separate sports from nationalism and forced collectivism, and tribalism. I see the decline in ratings for the Olympics and the NFL as part of a beautiful trend in human progress that will clear the way to unite the entire human family in love and freedom.

Adam, this right here! Thanks for helping me elaborate on my own outlook. As a polyamorous person, and a hedonist, i find it strange when people get excited about the fact that they are a part of a small demographic, i hold no pride towards my country, its corrupt. I enjoy sports, but competition rather than teamwork is not my cup of tea. Looking at the world from a perspective where it does not matter who or what you are, thats what i have, thats what others are gaining, in the history of man his kind of seperation from seclusion has never happened and were at an very important time in history. Shifting from in god we trust, or in the king we trust, or in country we trust. Its simply in math we trust. In science we trust.

Nice article @adamkokesh, although I'm not sure whether we are becoming less tribalist or not. Few day's ago I saw a CNN's "ridiculist" discussing a Fox New's article inspired by USOC officials' statement. Pretty tribalistic to me. Surely large part of it is "division and sensationalism" of MSM You mentioned, but Cultural Marxism seems strong not just in MSM and politics, but also in people's lives. I think it should be criticized - with satire or civil discussion if aplicable, to not create more division (in addition to what leftist identity politics does already). Hence my recent blog entry on that topic. I hope it's a bit deeper than question of kneeling or standing to the anthem ;)

Regards,
Mike

Some things are put out there just to divide people but ends up bringing people together. :). Life is funny that way. I really enjoyed your post. Joy

Hmm... it is. Another example would be the strength of Catholicism in Poland, Russia and some other countries from the former Eastern Bloc. Communist war on religion can be thanked for that ;) It also vaccinated me and some others against Cultural Marxism.

Yay. :)

Thanks for sharing i will done up vote I always see your post. And follow you

I like olympic sport .Many state attend this sport..And increasing mutual understanding

Expose the Talmud and its followers and the task at hand you are identifying is stopped dead in its tracks. Right? Now, please tell me something oh, great leader of the AnarchoCapVol movement in America: How are we going to stop counterfeit currency production, distribution and circulation without one justice system owned by all within said jurisdiction? Not speaking derogatorally, but clearing things up for the campaign trail. Kokesh 2020. Yes, he will be GREAT on the debate stage... but what if he wins the election with 34% of the vote? Now what? LOL Libertarians have never even governed/protected a stinkin' village, no less run a nation of 350 million population. So, as long as tribes can create counterfeit money, tribalism will never fade away as you envision... whereas you and Cantwell will be yelling at each other into eternity.

I'm affraid tribalism will not go away as long as identity politics, PC and Cultural Marxism in general is strong in MSM, politics and more importantly in academia and on campuses. Greetings from Poland! Godspeed.

Please check out the platform at KokeshForPresident.com for the answers to your questions.

Ok. You End the Fed. What stops this PRIVATE cabal from continuing to print these FRNs we call "dollars" and putting them into circulation as they do now? Only difference I see under your presidency is they won't enjoy legalized monopoly status any longer... which seems to lead one to logically conclude we'd end up having competing counterfeiting rings. The platform doesn't address this. This seems more of an issue for the Justice Department to be dealing with. Point us in the right direction. What can we expect from the "Split 50!" solution? Will the respective states simply decide how to deal with this HIGH CRIME within their own borders? I'm actually good with that.

So true, Adam!
