Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo usually battle for the Golden Shoe, but a Premier League striker has so far scored more goals than the two superstars in 2017.
Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane added another hat trick to his goal tally during his side’s comfortable 4-0 over Stoke on Sunday.
The treble took his Premier League record to nine goals since the turn of the year, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues, according to Squawka.
Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Alexandre Lacazette follow in joint-second place with eight league strikes each, while Ronaldo has found the back of the net six times this year.
The 23-year-old striker was labelled as one of the world’s best by his coach Mauricio Pochettino and revealed he is confident with this assessment.
“I feel that if you look at my stats, my goals, then I’m up there,” Kane said, as quoted by the Telegraph.
“If you guys want to print that (I’m one of the best in the world), I’m more than happy to have that.
“Look, I just try to do my best. I like to score goals, obviously I will try to score as many as I can from now until the end of the season. I feel in good form.”
Overall, Kane has scored 86 goals in 154 appearances since making his senior debut for Spurs.!
