The Weekly Steemit Scramble Contest
Tournament Information
Valspar Championship
March 9 – 12, 2017
Innisbrook Resort, Copperhead Course – Tampa, Florida
The PGA Tour heads back to Florida this week for the Valspar Championship. Defending champion, Charl Schwartzel will be taking on the field with a lot of big names sitting it out this week. Schwartzel beat Bill Haas in last year’s tournament in a playoff. Both golfers were tied at -7 before playing the 18th hole for a second time. Schwartzel earned a par, edging out Haas who bogeyed the hole, and Schwartzel took home the million-dollar prize for first place.
The Copperhead course at Innisbrook, the host of the Valspar Championship, is 7,209 yards and par for the course is 71. The Copperhead’s rating from the tips is 75.9 and the slope is 142.
The current weather forecast for the tournament is mostly sunny, with temperatures in the low to mid-80s. Scattered showers are possible on Sunday morning and afternoon, currently around a 50% chance of precipitation in the area, and winds will be around 15 miles per hour.
Tee times will begin at 6:50am ET (UTC -5) on Thursday. You can find the full list of times here: Valspar Championship Tee Times.
Player Selections and Multiplier
For the weekly Steemit Scramble, select three golfers from the tournament field that you believe will perform well and finish highest in the final standings. Based on the final results of the tournament, golfers will be assigned the following points:
Results | Points Awarded |
---|---|
1st place | 12 |
2nd – 5th | 7 |
6th – 10th | 4 |
11th – 20th | 2 |
21st - final cut | 1 |
THIS WEEK’S 2x MULTIPLIER: Pick the winning score in relation to par – Example: -9, +3. The closest participant to the multiplier statistic will earn DOUBLE their total points for the week.
AN ADDITIONAL 5-POINT BONUS will be awarded to all unique golfer selections. The bonus will be added to the contestants’ point totals AFTER the multiplier has been calculated. If two or more contestants choose the same golfers for the contest, then the contestant who entered their selections first will receive the bonus.
Here is the current top-20 Fed Ex Cup leaderboard. These are only the Fed Ex standings. This is not a list of golfers in the current tournament. Please choose your selections from the current tournament field. For the complete Fed Ex Cup standings you can visit this link from PGATour.com.
How to Play and Win
In a comment on this post, submit your three golfers and your prediction for the weekly multiplier. ONLY ONE COMMENT SUBMISSION PER USER, PER WEEKLY CONTEST.
Submissions will be confirmed at the start of the weekly tournament. ALL CONTEST SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ENTERED PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED START TIME AT THE FIRST TEE ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT. Late submissions and any edits after that time will be automatically disqualified from the weekly contest.
There will be three winners each week. The winners will be the contestants with the most points gained, based on the points distribution outlined in Player Selections and Multiplier. All point totals earned from all contestants will carry over for the monthly and season-long contests.
The contest is funded with a minimum pot of 50 STEEM. The total weekly pot distribution will be divided as follows:
Place | Rewards Percentage |
---|---|
1st | 50% |
2nd | 30% |
3rd | 20% |
In the event of a tie, the pot will be split between the tying contestants. If the tie occurs for third place, then all tying contestants will split the 20% payout. If the tie occurs in first or second place, then the tying contestants will split the total payout for those places.
Example: A two-way tie for first place will split 80% of the pot (50% + 30%) and third place will receive the remaining 20%. A three-way tie for second place will split 50% of the pot (30% + 20%) and first place will receive the allotted 50%.
