Helio Neto was 1 of 6 survivors of the plane crash in north-western Columbia on the 28th of November. A tragic accident which took the lives of 71 people on board, including 19 of Neto's teammates.
Chapecoense football team, based in the city Chapeco in the state of Santa Catarina, were on the way to play in the final of the Copa Sudamericana against Columbian side Atletico Nacional when the plane crashed into a hillside near Medellin. Neto was then in a coma for the next 2 weeks and when he regained consciousness, he asked who won the final of the Copa Sudamericana and why he was unable to play.
The match was suspended after the crash but the Brazilian side was declared the winner last week after their Columbian opponents requested Chapecoense be awarded the title.
