DFS DRAWING BOARD - NFL Week 14 - Wide Receivers

in sports •  6 years ago

Week 14 of the NFL season is upon us.  If you haven't already, please be sure to check out my write ups on this weeks QB and RB positions.  We are wrapping things up with the WR position.  A lot of value has opened up over the last week or so which should help us fit almost anyone we want at other positions.

Each week we take a step back to review the upcoming weeks matchups and crunch the numbers to develop a series of position specific articles related to top daily fantasy sports plays.  Whether you are playing on FanDuel, DrafKings, or even configuring your season long NFL lineups, these articles should serve as a reference tool and helpful guide to choosing the best players.  I've shortened these articles to give you only the necessities and bottom-line reasoning as to my top choices.  This is a no bullshi*t article and by that I mean the players and plays I suggest are those that I will be using in my personal lineups.  Nothing is excluded.  We intend to win.  The goal is to make great lineups, win money, have a great time, and share our success stories. If you are new to my blog or daily fantasy sports in general, I encourage you to check out my DFS Introduction post which provides some general context on what DFS is and how to play.  Spoiler alert, if you like playing fantasy sports and winning money, DFS is the platform for you.  Also, if you haven’t already, feel free to follow my referral links and sign up for Fanduel and Draftkings.  Each provides its own set of bonuses for new users.

With that being said, here are my top plays at the wide receiver position for Week 14.   Enjoy, upvote, and comment on your weekly outlook.  Note, pricing now reflects what is posted on FanDuel.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Devante Adams - Green Bay Packers

$8,700 / vs. ATL / GB - 4

Devante Adams naturally becomes a great stack with Aaron Rodgers this weekend.  He, of course, is Rodgers best and most talented weapon on the outside and by long a shot.  Over the past 3 weeks, Adams has amassed 33 targets which he has turned into 23 receptions for 328 yards and 2 TDs.  Matchups seem to not matter, Rodgers is getting him the ball and he is getting open.  I mentioned in Aaron Rodgers write-up that the Falcons defense is just atrocious this year.  They are getting shredded through the air at ease and in turn this sets up Rodgers and Adams for a great game this Sunday.  According to RotoGrinders, Atlanta is giving up over 31 FD points per game to the WR position this year.  On the year, the Falcons are averaging 276 receiving yards per game against them and have up a 25 total TDs through the air.  Thats what we want in a receiver on FD.  TDs. . . and I think Adams sets up perfectly for a big game and big payout on FD.

Adam Humphries - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

$6,500 / vs. NO / TB + 10

It's no longer a secret, the New Orlean Saints' secondary is trash this year.  They, like the Falcons, are getting beat by almost everyone, good or bad.  They actually went out and traded for Eli Apple a few weeks ago, who himself is a total bust, and I think there defense somehow got worse.  Humphries on the other hand, is a guy who's stock is rising quickly.  The Tampa Bay receiving corps has been hurt by injuries and as a result guys like Humphries and Godwin have been getting more time time on the field and have disappointed.  I'm going Humphries here over Godwin simply because of the matchup.  Not only do the Saints suck at defending receivers, they are just simply horrendous defending slot receivers, which is primarily where Humphries will be playing this weekend.  He has scored in 3 straight games and has seen his target share slowly rise week after week.  Tampa Bay is a huge underdog here even home, so we should expect plenty of passing out of their offense.  Humphries should be one of the biggest beneficiaries of game flow and matchup.  At a reasonable $6,500, he is a great play in my book.

Courtland Sutton - Denver Broncos

$5,600 / at SF / DEN - 3.5

Unfortunately this week we got news that the Broncos leading receiver Sanders went down with a season ending injury.  After trading away Thomas and now losing Sanders, the Broncos are very very thin at receiver.  This has left Sutton as the main guy to focus on and at a reasonable price.  Case Keenum doesn't really have many options outside of Sutton, so we should expect heavy usage when they do go to the pass.  His usage was rising after trading Thomas over the last couple of weeks and it should only increase more with Sanders on the IR.  Sutton is about as low as I will go this week in salary and offers great value simply based on usage.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Keenan Allen - Chargers - $7,900

  • Finally the game we all expected last weekend against the Steelers.  Allen has always benefited from a huge target share and I expect this will be the case moving forward, especially as long as Gordon remains injured.

Amari Cooper - Cowboys - $6,900

  • I actually love Cooper this weekend against Philadelphia.  The Cowboys have done nothing short of getting him the ball (unlike Oakland) and his trade has paid off big time.  Philadelphia has struggled all year vs. the pass due to secondary injuries.  I expect a big game.

That wraps up the WR position for Week 14.  As always, good luck out there and lets win some money!

I'd have actually won good money last week if I didn't have Sutton and Godwin in most my lineups on DK

Agree. Sutton killed me. I didnt do too bad with one lineup where I had Cooper and Barkley but Sutton killed my big lineup.
