Ortiz popped for using anabolic steroids just two days ago, only a mere few weeks before the biggest fight of his life.
This isn't the first time the Puerto Rican bruiser has gotten into trouble with performance enhancers; in fact this the third time in the past 5 years Ortiz has been either suspended, or warned with time off. He really hasn't learned anything from his past mistakes within the sport, and boxing belongs to gentlemen, not to cheaters like this guy. The truth is we can point fingers all we want...we can also hear the denial from Ortiz himself and the management whom tells him what to say at every outing. But the real deal has finally come, and Luis won't have anything to show for it.
I believe on the third offense it is almost like the judicial system..3 strikes you're out. Who even knows if he will be allowed to compete again, and at his age this seems to be his only career path. It is honestly more sad than anything, the guy has serious technical skill for a guy his size, and he posed an immense threat to the bigger names in the heavyweight division. I saw him upsetting Deontay WIlder for the one and only WBC belt, but that won't be happening...and honestly I am much less surprised than I thought I'd be. Nobody can predict a situation like this, but I hope it never happens again.
