Denver Broncos Retain WR #88 Thomas. Say it ain't so Elway....

in sports •  7 years ago

New Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum will have at least one Pro Bowl wide receiver to throw to this season, and in my opinion this is not a smart move by the Denver Broncos because this player had under performed his value for our team the last two years. Granted he didn't have the best QB to get him the ball but his amount of drops in crucial situations was excessive to say the least.

The Broncos have picked up Demarius Thomas’ $4 million option for 2018. That means the receiver will be back at a base salary of $8.5 million this fall. Now many of you know from my past videos that I feel like Thomas is way overrated and rarely comes up with the game breaking play we need at the most critical times.

Denver will have another decision to make on Thomas when he’s due a base salary of $14 million in 2019. The Broncos could release him next offseason for a net cap savings of $15.3 million. It does no good to discuss this at this point because whats done is done for this year. Now with new proven talent at the QB spot, all eyes will be on Thomas and he will have to have a great year to EARN the rest of that paycheck.

The 30-year-old receiver has hauled in 629 receptions for 8,653 yards and 57 touchdowns since being selected by Denver in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft. The five-time Pro Bowler ranks second on the team’s all-time receiving list, trailing only Rod Smith (11,389 yards).

The Broncos are also expected to bring back receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who is set to earn $8.25 million this season. Despite rumors that Sanders might be on the trade block, the 30-year-old receiver will likely stay in Denver.

That means Keenum should have two Pro Bowlers to throw to this year. If Keenum can post the same kind of numbers he did in 2017, the Broncos’ passing attack should be much-improved this season.

No matter what the consequences will be but this time broncos is going to win i am damm sure last time we came from the down momentum but it will be up this time

that's a lot of fees there for that player but if he perform well that's all good

It is great to get your insights before the season starts. Can't wait regardless of this decision!

Two Pro-bowlers to launch and zing to will make for a better more interesting year no doubt. I love that photo. It says it all.

Demarius Thomas was a disappointment in my FF league last year. Hopefully he picks it up this season.

We need an inspirational video on cryptos Broncnutz!

You’re right @broncnutz it’s not a smart move . . . They have to think big
But let’s Hope for the Best

i think changes in the team is the need of time..
best of luck @broncnutz

Best of luck

Yes, you are right .

I also see there are many changes that sometimes need to be done in the team, hopefully they and all make a good choice.

so there is no failure.

lets see what he brings to the teams i think we will be flying all the way

Wow. American football is watched with such a great enthusiasm though many people would not know about it here. My fiancee is in America and she is just crazy for it.

Thomas is a class player, i've always loved him watching .

Great post dear l love sport my favourit sport football thanks for sharing

The Denver Broncos are heading into a pretty pivotal offseason under John Elway. Despite winning the Super Bowl only two years ago, the Broncos are a team in transition. We don't know who their quarterback is: prominent scuttlebutt indicates Elway will be interested in Kirk Cousins or perhaps Case Keenum .

Nice game.i am a big fan of this game
thanks for sharing

I see that there are many changes, sometimes it is necessary to do this in the teams, hopefully they make a good selection

I like a player on this team 'THOMAS' he plays the role fantastic, its really good to hear Broncos’ passing attack should be improved in this season, and i hope also in upcoming season.

Always a winner. that is the option.

like sports

broncos always try best on the field hopefully this time too they turn the tables around

I know that Thomas ha spooked to be on the downtrend the past couple seasons but I think that he just might still have some juice. I’ve watched these games and he has struggled with consistency from his QB and I don’t think he has been given the opportunity to perform at the level that he is capable of. That being said, I was happy to hear Elway come out and say that Keenum was the guy he wanted right from the start. I was a little on the fence at first but going back and looking at some game film in NFL GamePass ya scobhjnced me of how good Keenum is. I’m not going to let him pay for the crap coaching that he had to endure under Jeff Fisher. He showed last year that he has a consistent and strong arm.

What I do love is the fact that Von Miller will do anything for this team to win!!!! When I heard that he restsructured his deal I order to help free up more Cap room for the Broncos I was so happy. He is the backbone of this team and I think he might be primed for a career year if it’s even possible for him to play better than he already has. I am curious to see what Elway has up his sleve for that money and what he might do at the draft. These are exciting times in Bronco Nation!!!!

BTW: Amazing freaking seats!!!!! Season ticket holder I’m assuming. So damn jealous!!!!

if you are cheering them up they don't need to worry at all we got it covered bro :)

Sir you are great, I would like to say you thanks for everything.
I respect you. You can write everything pretty well.
I find the sweetness in your writing.
You are an outstanding personality.
Thanks for all your activities.

happy to see you sir watching the game. football is my first choice.

I still do not know why the unskilled players break the top salary either the talented the team don't give 'em the chance

Hey sir this is amazing, you are rocking with these sport articles, great to see you again sir.

Some big deal lined up this time around to change the game fortunes

when is the next season starting off would love to know time to cheer the team up

who ever comes in lets hope for the best for broncos

No one team out there lets rule it like the kings

east or west broncos is the best

He clearly benefited from having Petyon Manning throwing to him a few years ago and that's what got him to the Pro Bowl level. His production has been dropping off big time the past couple of years as you noted, but you need a competent QB. Look what happened to Randy Moss in Oakland, etc. He needs to have an incredible season this year though to get that 14-15 mil next year. Either way I see him being released before next season. If Keenum is anything like how he was a year ago in Minn. he should be able to help this Denver passing attack significantly. Probably need some more help at Tight End though.

Well, Thomas is a bit old and he surely thinks about his health now more than ever, but if you bring Sanders to Broncos, that's a whole different story then.

At the end of the day, Keenum must be a leader and I hope Broncos will be his place to shine... I'm so excited for a new season, well every season I am..
My Raiders signed Jordy Nelson and fired Crabtree.. I say GOOD JOB :D

Denver team is rocking .
