We have a light week with a few fights on the Bellator card this week. This card will include 5 main card fights and 9 prelims. The main event of that one is Frank Mir vs Fedor Emelianenko, which should be fun. While it wont be the most exciting, it will be better than nothing. After this weekend we will have a quiet weekend before everything hits the fan. Unless Conor decides to go crazy again.

On May 12 we will have UFC 224 with Nunes and Pennington as well as the continuation of Bellator Heavyweight World Grand Prix Round One. This Bellator event should be a good one with Bader facing the amazing King Mo.
This week I will do a small breakdown of this weeks Bellator fights. Starting next week and the week of May 12 I will break down all the UFC 224 fights and Bellator 198.

Highlighting Upcoming Fights

I will start off by breaking down the third to the last fight we have the straight out of retirement Gerald Harris versus Ragael Lovato Jr. The Jr means he is younger. So it comes down to the more experienced and very talented Harris but with some some age and lull in his career against the young and great striking Lovato. Lovato is likely to pull this out, even against a smart and experienced fighter like Harris.

In the second to last fight of the main card we will have Emmanuel Sanchez versus Daniel Strause. Emmanuel is a very skillful fighter and is probably the one to watch in this fight. But we cannot count Sicilia out as he is very powerful and he had a recent upset over Marcos Galvao. Emmanuel is the heavy favorite in this fight.

The main fight of the main card will be Frank Mir and Fedor Emelianenko, and this one will be the one to watch, if you only get to see one. At weight-ins, Frank looked very healthy at 261.5 pounds while Fedor looked a little heavy at 240. While this is no guarantee of either ones condition, fitness and weight do play a role in a fight like this. Mir was the former UFC heavy weight champ while Emelianenko was the former Pride Heavyweight champ.

Fedor Emelianenko is a veteran with a 36 and 5 record. The numbers don’t lie, he has been around and knows how to fight. Frank Mir still has an impressive 18 and 11 record. I will take the underdog in Frank (U.S.) over the Russian Fedor, thought he is only a slight underdog for this fight. Fedor is the better striker and is faster. Frank is coming off a 2-year hiatus and Fedor is older and warn out. The professional consensus seems to lean toward Fedor with a TKO in round 1.

It seems oddly peaceful in MMA after the last few weeks of madness.

Its really nice actually to be able to breath after all of that. But it does make the sport what it is. Would UFC/Bellator or fighting in general be fun without some drama? Still doesnt mean I like Conor, by hey, he does keep it interesting and on our toes.

Agreed, It is nice to have a break from it, but the sport wouldn't ne same without it tho as you said haha.
