If that happens, they'll be the first team since the 1992 Colts to have those selections.
The funny thing is, I actually do think that the odds makers are probably right here.
The Cardinals are a bad team. It already looks like they're tanking.
Their other first round pick came from a trade with the Texans. Part of me finds it hard to believe that the Texans are gonna be picking at number two two years in a row. But then the Jaguars recently picked first overall two years in a row.
The Texans are probably a better team this year than they were last year; but, the reality is that the AFC has probably never been stronger.
Now, a lot of people do think that, if the Cardinals do end up with the first overall pick, they're gonna use it to select Caleb Williams and move on from Kyler Murray.
That would be an interesting move; but, it would probably commit the Cardinals to another dead season next year. Yes, they'd have Williams on a rookie scale contract; but, there's no feasible way that they'd keep Murray around. Cutting Murray would result in an $81.5 million dead cap charge. I also don't know who would be interested in trading for him.
