According to ESPN, the talks between Floyd "Money" Mayweather and the UFC are true. Dana White confirmed the news and said, "anything is a possibility" when it comes to doing what Mayweather wants to do.
Circus or not, the numbers brought in for the Mayweather vs. McGregor "money fight" filled a lot of people's pockets in the fight game and like White said when disclosing this to ESPN, "Have you heard Floyd talk about many things that aren't real? He usually tips his hand when he's in the media, and then that sh*t ends up happening."
He's not wrong. Back when the Mayweather vs. McGregor was only a conversation being entertained Ariel Helwani said something very interesting when it comes to promoting fights and making them happen:
"When people with a lot of money want to see something, they make it happen."
I firmly believe that since we got an 0-0 boxer face a 49-0 champion back in August for Mayweather to get that 50th win. McGregor made so much money, the chances of seeing him in MMA again seem to be all but forgotten. Especially when White said at the UFC 218 post-fight presser that they were moving forward as if McGregor was not there anyway.
