Is United Right to Give Up Zlatan?

in sports •  8 years ago  (edited)

Yesterday, all United fans were shocked by the news of Zlatan's exit. The Swedish Legend suffered serious injury in April. He was not expected to come back at the start of the EPL but he only signed a 1 year contract with United. Now United does not offer a new deal for Zlatan. Many fans have been criticizing this "heartless" decision. As a fan of Manchester United and Zlatan, I want to share my views here.

What Can Zlatan Bring To The Team?

Zlatan contributed a lot to Manchester United throughout this season by achieving 28 goals and 8 assists. But his value cannot just be represented by statistics. If Zlatan can stay, the most important benefit is his experience. Rashford and Martial are forward players with quality, but their ages do not allow them to make every decision maturely. Zlatan is the right guy to teach and lead these young players in United. Moreover, Zlatan, as a tall, strong and lethal striker, will be able to provide more possibilities to the team tactics.

Why Don't United Just Let Him Stay?

Manchester United is obviously not a ruthless club that shows no respect to players. It can be told by what United did for Michael Carrick last week. I agreed that Zlatan should be treated better if United is really giving him up. However, seeing from the club's angle, offering a contract to an injured 35-years-old player is literally a risky decision.

Is This Decision Really "Heartless"?

In my opinion, this decision actually leaves spaces and choices for the both sides. Manchester United is willing to provide him medical care until his recovery but United can avoid a risky deal at the same time. Zlatan does not need to worry too much about his recovery and he can decide his future more freely. We should all understand that this is so far the best decision for both of them.

Do not forget that Zlatan has not announced his movement yet. If his form and body are all right, United may then offer him a new deal. So all of us should stay hopeful about this. We all want to see this legend conquering the pitch with the No. 9 kit again!

This is not a bad decision, he is old already and can't really cope 100% with the toughness of the EPL....

I think he is capable to cope with it, but not as a player playing 90 minutes for every match.

To be honest if red devil's gonna get Morata they will be more stronger :) would love to see more content from you ! and also follow me back for content share :)

I agree that Morata is a pretty good choice for this team. Although Rashford is also amazing, his physical strength is a big weakness as a striker. So Morata could make United's forward more completed!

There is still a chance he could remain at United.
It's been reported Zlatan will continue his recuperation period at the club. He should be fit by December-January. If things work out, he could agree to a short period deal.

And I agree. I think he made a great contribution to Man.Utd. this season.

I hope so !

he didn't fit in there, Man U, despite the mikey mouse double, had a poor season.

I don't think his overall performance was "poor". But I can't deny that he is getting old and weaker than before. I admit that he isn't at his best anymore. As a fan of him, I still wish him a good future.

He is a true striker, not many around. Diego Costa is similar. They have one thing on their mind: put ball in net. Yes he is a good player with a fantastic ego, but that makes his persona fun. And it was Man U that had the poor season, not Ibra.

You absolutely don't know what you are saying? how old is zlatan? and what kind of performance do you need from him... It is difficult to find a striker who can still perform at that age range, EPL is very tough, zlatan tried...

He has done a great season as usual, but age is not on his side. Plus, Manchester United is a top tier club and, no matter your contribution or how long you have been at the club, you won't be cherished unless you actually do something in the present (see Ryan Giggs). I hope he goes back to play in the Serie A, otherwise I was reading Zenit wanted to buy him, which seems pretty feasible as Roberto Mancini (whom he worked with at Inter) will be the new manager.

I think he is still a better than many of the current youngster playing despite of his age and judging his performance he could have clearly outperformed many the following year . Their letting a gem go
..well you can see some interesting football post on my page ..follow me and ill follow u

I think he should have stayed one more year, just his presence being there has helped the team, United haven't been the same since Ronaldo Tevez Rooney days, we did however win the league with Van Persie. Now with Mourinho I think its coming back slowly but surely. Zlatan has been vital for Utd this season, hopefully we bring in someone now that can fill that role.

I think its the right decision from Man Utd.
Zlatan is a very good player but Man Utd are a much better team with pace and speed. Players like Rashford and Lingard are the future and they need to play so I can see why Zlatan has been let go.

Good post by the way, keep it up :)

Thx! This is my first post in Steemit :)
