The 29-year-old athlete from Patna, who now lives in Chhatarpur, was released from the hospital earlier this week but had to return for more tests.
Kumar, whose left leg was paralysed as a youngster after receiving a phoney polio vaccine, participated in the T-42 final in Tokyo last month despite sustaining a knee injury in training.
He later admitted that he was contemplating withdrawing from the race. Kumar took bronze with a jump of 1.83 metres.
He is the Asian Para Games high jump champion twice (in 2014 and 2018), as well as a world silver medalist (2019).
Athletes with a leg deficiency, leg length discrepancy, limited muscle power, or impaired passive range of motion in the legs are classified as T-42. In a standing stance, the athletes compete.
