With all those elite players not on the slate, we're looking at a lot of players that we don't normally look at but that's not a bad thing. here are the player rankings for this week:
Quarterbacks
It's not that we have bad quarterbacks, but we have a lot of good quarterbacks with good matchups. Here are our top guys:
If you have a strong QB preference than get that guy, but I'm perfectly willing to make a QB my last pick from any position. If you wanted to get a little crazy, you could even wait and get Josh Allen who has the ultimate matchup against Miami. There's zero reason to reach for a QB.
Runningbacks
There are some good options and then about of relatively even picks after them. Here we are:
It's really weird seeing Leonard Fournette at the absolute tops of rankings, but here we are. Fournette is technically our number one RB, but Barkley could be a number one pick. His coming off of an injury is a little concerning, but...he's Barkley. We definitely like Cook a little more than Draft and he needs to be drafted very early.
Every RB after that comes after that is fairly meh from a projection standpoint. I like Henry quite a bit this week. Hopefully the offense take a step forward with Ryan Tannehill getting the start(words I never thought I would write) and the Chargers defense is dealing with injuries all over the place.
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends
Not unlike RBs, there are a few WRs at the top and then everyone else.
Going back to the Kupp/Julio well after last week will take guts. I had Kupp in a lot of drafts and he(or Goff) killed my teams. They have an amazing matchup against an Atlanta defense that is horrendous. We like Hopkins and then there is a fairly big chasm after that. Draft is way off of T.Y. Hilton, but he has a great matchup and should be ranked a lot higher. He's a nice freebie. Another player to keep in mind as a freebie is Evan Engram. He's probably not going to be in a lot of my lineups, but the matchup is as good as it gets and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being a top-6 WR/TE scorer.
Week 6 Review
How bad was Week 6? I let my 8-yr-old daughter do a $1 draft. I told her that if she won(for a $1.70 profit) I would buy her and her brother bubble gum. She choose Dak Prescott with her first pick(because he was the best looking), but still won it. As it happened my wife was going to the store so I asked her to buy the bubble gum. I was thinking a pack of juicy fruit, but my wife got both kids big containers of bubble gum that each cost over $3. Her win actually cost me over $5. That pretty much summed up the week.
Patrick Mahomes was our biggest target. He got off to a flying start with an unreal 116 yards passing on a single drive and then two TDs by the half, but he injured his ankle and just wasn't the same. He still had an OK day with 19.82 points, but ohh what could have and probably should have been.
Dalvin Cook was another big target. We were adhering to the 'defenses doesn't matter' theorem, but Philadelphia has a good run defense and a terrible pass defense. Stefon Diggs ends up having a 3-TD day while Cook totals 54 yards and a TD. It wasn't horrible, but we were looking for 20 points out of him sort of like Leonard Fournette. Fournette was also a big target, but he failed to record a TD and ended up with 14.8 points. It wasn't bad, but again, it wasn't the 20-point day we need from our RBs.
Julio Jones...we'll take 8 receptions for 108 yards. It was good for 14.8 points, but a TD would have been awfully nice. The top WRs really didn't do much, but man a TD would have been great.
It wasn't any of those guys that really sunk us though. It was a combination of Cooper Kupp who got us a measly 3.7 points and huge performances by Lamar Jackson, Matt Ryan, and Ezekiel Elliott. It's not even that our guys besides Kupp stunk it up, but no one had that 25+ point performance we need to win. Frustrating.
This was an especially tough week because it's the third straight week of losing money and put us in the red on the year. We're running bad. It happens, but it does make me question myself honestly. I still think the process is solid. One great performance, one or two close wins, or one great week will get us right back. The process is good. I'll still keep plugging away.
