Barcelona and Real Madrid will play El Clasico in Miami this summer

The pre-season programme ahead of the 2017/2018 campaign will feature an El Clásico match, with Real Madrid and Barcelona set to meet in this summer's International Champions Cup. Spanish football's big two are poised to lock horns on Saturday 29 July at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, which is home to NFL side the Miami Dolphins. Top-level entertainment is guaranteed for a game set to be followed by supporters across the globe and which promises to be one of the headline fixtures of the summer.

This will be the second time that Real Madrid and Barcelona have met outside of Spain. The only previous time was in Venezuela in 1982.

But Tebas' statement only applies to league matches, with La Liga having no authority over friendlies.

If the fixture does go ahead, it is almost certain that ESPN would have television rights, but there is a question over which stars would be available to play.

Barcelona would have a full squad at their disposal, meaning the US audience would almost certainly get to see Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez in action.
