This freshman trio of QB C.J. Stroud, and RBs Treveyon Henderson and Miyan Williams will rewrite Buckeye history books. -And they’ll never be accused of running up the score because we’ll need every point we can get since our defense is pathetically slow, small, and toothless.
It’s going to be an exciting year watching this freshman trio develop and flourish. It’s doubtful that such a young core could lead a triumphant championship run when teamed with a defense that is this horrible, but there seemed to be a certain magic in the debuts of these three new stars. -And in Henderson’s case, a certain extra gear.
On Stroud I may have perceived a halo. During his first postgame interview, his otherwise humble, angelic, and unflinching poker-faced face tellingly lit up with a huge knowing smile when asked whether it’s true that the Buckeyes have the best receiving corps in the nation. Olave and Wilson are pound-for-pound (both about 188#) as ready for prime time as any duo we’ve had. Both are serpentine deep-strike threats who know how to get open, go up for the catch, and run to daylight.
We need a center who can reliably snap the ball to Stroud in the shotgun, but otherwise our offensive line looks like the terrifying dance of synchronized turbocharged bulldozers.
If it weren’t for our disastrous D, we’d be a shoe-in for the dark horse. Nay, the front runner.
